Overview

The Dynamics 365 FastTrack team is evolving the Finance and Operations Go-Live Readiness Review to align with Microsoft's AI-first product direction. While the goal remains the same — ensuring your implementation is ready for production — the review process will become significantly faster, more automated, and efficient through an AI-driven model.

Target date: Tentatively 2 March 2025 (timeline subject to change).

Scope and Exclusions

This change applies only to projects delivered through Partner-Led engagements or the Self-Service model where there is no FastTrack Solution Architect involved.

It does not apply to:

  • Customer projects with a dedicated Microsoft-led FastTrack Solution Architect — continue working directly with your assigned SA
  • Projects on Government Cloud (GCC, GCC High, DoD) — continue using the existing process via the checklist and d365fogccglr@microsoft.com
  • Projects with environments in Power Platform Admin Center — contact your assigned FastTrack Solution Architects for next steps

What Is Changing

1. Self-Service Project Creation via the Implementation Portal

Previously, projects could be created either by contacting the FastTrack Go-Live Support team via email or self-service through the Dynamics 365 Implementation Portal. Going forward, project creation will be exclusively via the Implementation Portal. The support team will no longer create projects manually unless there are portal errors.

Preparation: Familiarise yourself with the project onboarding process. You will need the Tenant ID, LCS ID and Region, and at least two customer stakeholders for consent. Create projects well in advance to resolve any technical issues before review submission.

2. AI-Driven Review by Default

All Go-Live Readiness Reviews will be performed automatically by an AI system unless you explicitly opt out. The AI review runs end-to-end without waiting on human processing and is based on the same Success by Design principles and knowledge articles developed by the FastTrack Solution Architects team. Reviews complete within minutes and stakeholders are notified immediately, replacing the previous manual process that required up to three business days for initial results.

Preparation: Continue providing clear and concise information on reviews. Ensure all prerequisites in the Prepare for Go-live article are met, as the review cannot be submitted otherwise.

3. Real-Time Risk Identification and Mitigation

Instead of a human-authored report with back-and-forth communication, risks and recommendations now appear instantly in the Dynamics 365 Implementation Portal. Customer stakeholders can directly mark risks as mitigated using a new confirmation button, which triggers automatic completion of the review. No more email or portal message exchanges — customers are empowered to make the Go/No-Go decision based on the risks and recommendations provided.

Preparation: Ensure the correct customer stakeholders are assigned as key participants in the portal. Only customers belonging to the tenant linked to the review can resolve risks to enable the production slot.

4. Automated Production Slot Enablement

Previously, FastTrack manually verified risk resolution before enabling the production environment slot in LCS. Going forward, once risks are marked as mitigated by the customer stakeholder in the portal, LCS will automatically release the production slot within minutes with no human intervention required.

Preparation: Verify that customer admin roles and participants are correctly identified and added during review creation. Ensure stakeholders are available to review risks and sign off promptly. Align cutover and deployment planning to take advantage of faster slot availability.

5. Opt-Out for Manual Review

The new experience introduces a simple choice at review submission:

  • Default: AI-driven instant review
  • Optional: Manual review with the current 3-business-day SLA and manual intervention for risks and approvals

If your project requires manual handling, you may opt out of AI review when submitting. Otherwise, most customers should use the AI route to accelerate timelines.

Summary of Impact

  • Most of the review process is now self-serve: creating projects, performing reviews, resolving risks, and enabling the production slot
  • Reviews are dramatically faster with immediate LCS production slot release on resolving all risks
  • Partners and customers have more visibility and control
  • Production enablement happens on your timeline, not on a review queue

Public documentation and an FAQ will be published closer to the release date. The existing mailbox (d365fogl@microsoft.com) remains open for support and queries.
