Power Apps in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations

Note (2025): "PowerApps" is now Power Apps (with a space), and "Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations" is now Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. The embedded Power Apps capability described here has matured significantly since version 8.0 and is now a well-established feature of the platform.

A great feature introduced in version 8.0 (Platform Update 14): embedded integration with Microsoft Power Apps, available for end users directly within Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. Jason Green demonstrates the capability in the following video.

It looks nice and easy. However, as it leverages D365's interface personalisation features, it will typically be available only to a single user (unless specifically shared by an admin or other users) and could be accidentally removed by a database refresh or data clean-up. So while it is great for POCs and testing, a different approach is likely needed to make it part of a permanent solution.
